Subway’s Forgotten Charm


In the New York City subway, I take a lot of pictures, never sure why.

Of the tracks, the trains, through the windows– It seems so majestic and self governing, like something that has refused to buckle or conform. The colors, sounds, smells, haven’t changed since the 1970s when I was a kid.

This photo was taken tonight at the 190th street station in the Bronx.
